PART V: Reservoir Fixes and Loop Changes

1. Adding Koolance Loopback Adapter and LEDs

So finally Koolance came out with the serial loopback adapter for the 45x series reservoirs. It comes with two pieces that loopback itself that links pump output to other pump input, as well as a replacement acrylic adapter for the lower (P1) reservoir which seals the left reservoir from its inlet/outlet holes and lets you run serial pumps with the short plug vice the long plug.

Dissembling the reservoir was straight-forward and the difference between the stock acrylic piece (right) and the replacement (left) is shown here:

Final install should look like this (minus the long plug - don't forget to remove that):

I order red 3mm LEDs from Koolance to fit onto the pump but obviously someone forget to pass along measurements to the LED engineer as the length between LEDs isn't long enough to fit one string into both holes on one side of the reservoir as seen here:

Not much I could do but just use tape off the extra LED on each string and just light up the top holes of the RES. The acrylic faceplate leaks out tons of light so, I covered it up with good 'ol electrical tape.

Lastly - I added the loopback connector between P1-OUT and P2-IN. There aren't any instructions anywhere but the pics off of Koolance's site was the only indication.

2. Final Loop Diagram

After about 4 different loop options and trial by fire (or water in this case) - This is the final-final loop order. Thank god I bought 15ft of tubing as being my first time, I made tons of mistakes and not enough prep work.

The single loop order goes like this:

P2-OUT > RX360 > CPU > VGA > RX120 > P1-IN (P1OUT-P2IN are Loopbacked)

Still left to do:
- Waiting on my replacement mobo once the MEIV comes in stock again.
- Adding another GTX580 and block to the loop for 3SLI
- Sleeving
- GTX 580 backplate install
- Glory pics and video

So Far no regrets but Dam Gina this **** is expensive to make it perform + look good..

Looking really good. I want to replace my case with the HAF X and eventually buy the RX360 kit to start off.

Part VI: Changing MBoard and Adding 3rd Video Card

Finally the B3 Maximus IV Extreme boards came in stock - so I replaced my MSI holdover board as well as ordered another GTX580 since the Maximus supports triple-sli. That allowed me to clean up the runs a little better since I had to gut the PC and reinstall all the components anyway.

I decided to go with the tube flow of P2OUT > CPU > RX360 > VGA > RX120 > P1IN and keep the loopback on P1OUT > P2IN.

My current temps are
Idle:
CPU - 32degrees
3SLI - 31 degrees

Load:
CPU - 50 degrees
3SLI - 49 degrees

The setup probably could use a larger secondary or an additional external RAD for better overall temps but I'm pretty satisfied I was able to fit everything in the case without modding.

This should be my final final setup at least until my sleeving comes in from MDPC-X but the more I take it apart, the better I get at understanding watercooling. Here are the latest shots:

Really like the look of this. I agree that the more you play with something, the better you are at understanding how it all works.

hey nice build! i'm going to "borrow" your loop design to an extent. here is what I'm going to go with until EK mills out a full card block for the 6990 (should be only days now) how are your temps?
