[DF/EG] Face-Off: Bulletstorm - Page 3

Pretty awesome! I laugh at the people in the other thread about Bulletstorm being a good PC game that were bashing the game for "probably being really lame graphically and nothing but a console port."

Looks excellent. Im going to read the other half of the article now.

How much AA are you using then?

Trust me. It's your resolution. I get extremely fluctuating frames at 1600x900 (my native res; also one of the rese's known for being hated by this game) and that's even without AA on. This game's engine is definately a power house but no unreal game can be THAT much of one in this day and age. In Batman: AA i get a constant 60 WITH Vsync. If i change to a resolution that's not divisible by 9 that's what it does... but if it's one of the resolutions the game likes... it runs absolutely flawless even with AA on.

For this reason i have yet to play the game yet. I have only walked around in Grays ship and messed around online a bit. I'm really bummed out as i highly anticipated this release and rushed to get a new setup in time for it. Guess we can wait for a fix... until then i'm gonna have to be at a non-native, yucky 720p i suppose

EDIT: it's looking like the reason it runs horrible at our resolutions is because for some reason at those resolutions it doesn't push your GPU usage past 50-60% where as at other resolutions it can go up to 100% like any normal game. So basically our GPU's are being cut in half by this engine

I agree, everyone was bashing this prior to release so it's good to see some positive feedback coming from the PC community. I absolutely passed on the Gears of War craze but i do love Epic so i'm more than happy to see BulletStorm (i was also an admittedly BIG fan of the club) next-gen-score-attack ftw!

What I like about Bulletstorm the most is that it isn't your run-o-mill FPS. It tries super hard to be different and be over the top. And it works So Im glad it isn't just a great PC game, but it's a great game period from what I hear.

The only reason Im not going to buy it is because the whole arcade score thing isn't my type of game. Same thing happened with Vanquish. It may be good for one play through for me, but Im not into the score thing. Vanquish and Bulletstorm are designed with replay due to the scoring a core mechanic so Im not too inclined to spend $60.

The arcade scoring thing could be fun if it had co-op story mode. Since it does not, it gets bumped down to discount bin purchase. For me the co-op arena type thing they put, is not an alternative to split screen co-op story mode.

A real shame they decided to leave it out. Would probably buy it on launch day if it had.

Yeah i like how different it is too and i like over-the-top... i think people who bash stuff that's so OUT THERE are themselves so stuck inside the box that they anything outside of their box is too much for them to take in. I remember coming to that conclusion after God of War III ... ahem ... anyhow.

I played the demo for Vanquish and IMO it had arcade written all over it. This is a fully fleshed out world with the arcade spirit attached to it. Two completely different takes if ya ask me. I do see where you're coming from about paying $60 for such a short experience though, although what's there is certainly quality. I got my copy of Bulletstorm from this site, bought a key for only $32 (best deal i found on the net) and they're trustworthy to anyone who's interested .

They had me at the "kill all your dicks" line.

It's so brilliantly over the top that it works perfectly.
