I've read ehume's articles (brilliant stuff) but I'd just like to point out the CPU isn't the only thing we're trying to cool inside a case chassis.
Why upgrade?

I've thought about why ehume's setup worked for me, and it's mostly because I have two fans on front intake pointed at the graphics card. This pushes residual heat from the card to the back of the case, where it rises to the unblocked opening and is allowed to leave. This heat is also pushed out by the second CPU fan, seeing as how my cooler's so massive the pull fan's only a few inches from the back. For that setup to work in OP's case, I would say there should be another intake (120mm if there's room, 80mm will work if there's not) at the bottom of the 5.25" bay. The rear top fan should also just be blocked off. Hard to say whether the rear exhaust should be removed or not, would require some testing.

Without adding fans or modding stuff, I would recommend going for traditional bottom/front to back/top airflow.

Yes this is true, but remember there is more places for other fan placement also, so don't write it off quite so quickly.
