Which Zacate board?

Thread Starter
So I'm absolutely fed up with xbox 360's lack of support for current encoding techs and have decided to build an HTPC. I really want to use one of the new zacate boards but which one to choose? All the prices are right around the same, so the only thing I can see justifying a purchase of a particular board would be:
A. USB 3.0 support
B. Warranty

I have read reviews on the Asus and Gigabyte and the overclockability of both boards are pretty pointless, but the only interesting point is that the Asus one has a passive cooler which would mean less noise. If anybody can chime in with some different perspectives that I may have overlooked I would appreciate. If anyone is currently running a zacate board for an htpc I would like your experiences.

One other thing is I'm also trying to pick out the right PSU and have decided on an Antec Earth at 380 that is bronze 80plus. I think it is a little overkill for the amount the system requires, but Antec is reputable and the efficiency makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. If anyone can make a suggestion in this area I would appreciate it as well.

I would say the asus zacate, a picopsu and the smallest case I could find, a ssd and see if you could go 100% passive.

This is the better thread

I keep it updated with reviews and releases, the other thread is mainly about the mATX version of the Zacate and the people that own it.

I think only one person has come to the main thread to report use reviews, but that should change soon.

Go to the main thread I posted.

This is mITX cases thread

There's a discussion of Pico PSU as well, you don't need 380w PSU that's 100% complete overkill and overpriced considering how cheap Pico's are.

You can run it with a 60w power brick.

If you put a HD5570 or so card in it you'll need less than 150w total and if you put a HD5770 in the slot you need about 200w.

But if strictly for casual games and media playback you don't need a card, save the money.

E35M1-I Deluxe features a very cool heatpipe based cooler, add a small fan there (some 8cm low profile unit) and you might overclock that CPU a bit to get some performance boost wink.gif

I'm getting the Deluxe one just because of the fancy cooler... and because it's a true mITX board biggrin.gif
