Is there a difference between cable modems?

Hi all,

I figured I'd be better off buying a modem rather then renting one from Comcast. However before I buy one, is there anything in-particular I should look for?

Thanks.

Well in general

Wireless N Certified
4 Ethernet Ports (100mbps or faster)

Thats about it really.

Docsis 3.0. If your area supports it, will be faster protocol than 2.

Edit: Beers answered it pretty good, few posts down

Well maybe I should specify a little bit more. I'm looking for a replacement cable modem not a wireless router. Unless the one you mentioned has both futures. Meaning all in one setup.

i dont like geting all in one modem/router's because routers tend to die and modems just become obsolete.

This should last you a while.
