Please build me a rig... limit is 1500 - Page 2

hmm...heavily threaded aps you say? perhaps consider a 2600k processor or an i7970 (considering the modest price drop)...I would say get a 2600k and oc that bad boy right away... b3 revisions are dropping within the next few weeks, maybe even sooner, so you could have a highly efficient beast on your hands

Why don't you just part out your CPU and motherboard. You can reuse almost everything else in your current build as upgrades will likely not yield performance.

New parts to purchase:
1. i7-970 $549 - 6 cores, 12 threads, and yes, better than Sandybridge for heavily multithreaded apps...
2. Asus Rampage III Formula $249
3. 1x 4GB stick of DDR3 that matches your current 8GB (2X4) kit (for a total of 12GB) $50
4. 128GB SSD for applications - $220

Total cost to you: $1070 - cash from 1100T and AM3 motherboard

With the $500 you have left in your budget, you can grab a second GTX580...

sandy bridge motherboards still on hold because of chipset sata issue?
also, consider watercooling loop instead of a heatsink and air.

Sandy Bridge motherboards will be back on the shelves in 2 weeks.

Don't waste your money on a 1366 build, and get yourself a 2600K.

IMO though, you should just sell your current Mobo, Cpu and RAM, and get a 2600K + P8P67 Pro and a set of RAM. Everything else in your sig rig is useful.

Hi,

You stated going to keep only ps and monitor, but with what you have
from old rig that will work well, all you need is the motor

For a 1500 buck budget, a high end multi card rig using a 2600K as starting
point going to be very easy to do.

Just shop smart

@OP - here's my info on the 2 week estimate - I'd say 3 weeks tops before you start seeing the motherboards in retailers.

The 3 major companies have started shipping the NEW B3 motherboards:

MSI estimates that they may available as early as March 7.

I'd OC a 570 personally, above 800 core they start to outperform stock 580s.

Also, remember that NV GPUs are able to offload CAD processing (at least for AutoCAD) so that's another plus.
