Watercooling fittings

Thread Starter
Hello guys, need some idea about what fittings I should get. I recently got a bigger case and about ready to pull trigger on the XSPC rasa 360 kit. I started thinking about where and how many 90 degree, 45 degree, etc. fittings I will need. Do you guys first layout your equipment in the case and go from there what fittings you need? Or do you just buy an assortment of them and use what you need? Trying to get an idea.

What I did, personally, was look through the picture gallery thread trying to find your exact set up. It worked really well for me. Told me how things were going to fit and what I needed to do.

The other option is to draw it out by hand. Unless you take measurements its still a guessing game to an extent.

Ok. Well, I guess I will take my best guess. One other question: I noticed in the noob guide that people use 7/16 tube on 1/2 barb. Is this recommended? Or is it wiser for a beginner like me to go for 3/8 tube with 3/8 barb. I really would like to have compression fitting, but per frozencpu, barbs are $1 while compression are $7...wow....

7/16" tubing on 1/2" ID barb is better since it is tighter less chance for leak, if you have trouble putting the tubing in try put the tubing in warm or boiling water for like 20 seconds to soften it up to hook it up onto the 1/2" ID barb.

Awesome. That takes care of tube and fitting sizes. One other question off topic. I have not found if the 360 rad that comes with the kit will fit on the top of ATCS 840. Or should I go for the 240 rad kit? Also, what would be a best place to put another 240 rad? Hang it outside on the back or put it inside by the hard drive bays? The question in my mind is that if I put the second rad in the hard drive bay area, I will be dumping hot air inside the case....unless I reverse the fans, which means I will not have a single source of air going inside the case, again, unless I reverse the 120mm fan at the back.

What are you adding to the loop that you'd need another rad? I'd rather get the RX360 kit and not have to add in another rad.

CPU and the two GPUs. Someone here told me with one 360 I may not see all that great of a temp when running a CPU and two GPUs.

I only ran the rx120 because I ran trifire watercooled 6970s for a while and temps went up on just a rx360. A single rx360 can handle 2 cards no problem.

Honestly, I would love to just stick with one rad. Guess I can start out with one rad and if I do not like the temp, I can get a 120 or 240. My main objective right now is to figure out if a 360 will fit on top of my case without mods - I hate mods.

EDIT: From the picture thread I found out I can fit a 360 up top and a 240 (if I need) by the HDD case. So I now just need to figure out which way my fans are gonna blow...

if u use the "right" size tubing then it will not fit tightly and u will need to use clamps.
