Help get my i7 920 C0 to 4, - 2ghz D:

Thread Starter
So I've been stable for some time now at 3.8.. and upon moving into the 800D case with a new WC loop, I want to push my C0 stepping chip to 4.2 or 4 ghz.. basically as high as I can. Everytime I try to go past 3.8 i just get BSOD's, 101s 124, etc. I'm a noob at this, and would really lke some help reaching stable 4,2 thanks.

Voltages?
What multi and bus combo are you using?
What do you consider stable?? (1 hour prime? 24 hours?)
What are your temperatures?

We need more info

Hey, yeah we need your information, but as far as your BSOD codes go, 101 is increase vcore primarily, and 124 is increase/decrease vcore or qpi/vtt. So, you probably need to increase that vcore a bit more. There is a thread on the forum explaining the rest.

Temps are under my specs, but 40 idle 60 load.. 10 hours prime at least, I render stuff in C4D and 3d programs, longer the better. Right now I've made a mess of my bios but, 1.35 CPU volt, 19 x 200.

Safe voltage on spec is 1.375. You can usually go up to around 1.4 (some people go higher) safely with good cooling. If you are able to get a x21 multi, that would make it easier. I know I can set my multi to 21 when I have turboboost enabled.

I just followed some tips, and used ioh/ich 1.2 DRAM bus volt 1.66 PLL 1.88 QPI 1.35 19 x 210 i kept getting 101 bsod's and prime95 lock ups, so I upped the vcore (CPU voltage) all the way up to 1.5! and it was still not stable, so I backed off. Should i push further? or should I just get a 950 or 930 chip if I want to reach 4,2?

Sounds like your chip needs a lot of tweaking and it may not be able to hit the wanted speeds.
No worries really since past 4Ghz does not really get much benefits, just more headaches

like it was said before. try 21X200 (turbo mode on ) and you should hit it . 1.3875 volts or under should be good.

For a C0 Chip on the Volts?
I thought you have to go Higher volts on the C0 chips to hit 4.0 ~ like 1.4 volts and up.confused.gif
