I sit at 3Gb usage normally, but I always have 100 or so tabs open and I set them to keep them to render in the tab and full page to stay rendered.

This...

Ok:
I use 12GB of Corsair XMS3 1600 DDR3 RAM.
I run 64 Bit Windows 7 Ultimate.

My reasoning:
1. Because I can.
2. I do video and photo manipulation.
3. I run several VMs.

Close everything, open calculater so many times until RAM is full up, tell me how many calculators you had open, we will compare.

okay dont do that because after 1,309 your RAM will be maxed out and Windows will crash because its trying to compress itself so much.

I voted 3.0 to 3.49.
I usually keep a lot of tabs open in Firefox, but my peak RAM usage is mostly because I run a VM or two with some projects.
Believe me, I'm only holding myself back with the VM's. Given the cash, I'd buy four sticks of 4GB and run rampant with them.

As for the gadget, talk to the sig, brother.

Oh it totally is. Quite future proof.

The only trouble is... I still find myself closing apps, my memory management habits are not dying.

Its crazy. I ask myself why am I closing all of this stuff to run a game...

I have a hex core at 4.0 GHz with 24GB of RAM, why am I turning off my Kaspersky...

I feel kind of feel dirty if I don't do it. So silly.
