Upgrade Path Suggestion

Thread Starter
I currently run 3 monitors on 2 GTX 295.

What the best path to upgrade with now? Have not kept up to date lately. Is the 590 the new 295?

Thanks...

It's not been released yet. You'd probably be better off with a 6950/70 since you can run eyefinity on a single card.

6970 cfx beats 580 sli on eyefinity
6950 cfx beats 570 sli on eyefinity

Buy the 6950 imo, or 6970 and ofcourse 2 for perfect crossfire eyefinity goodness.

Anyone mad? I'll support with benches if anyone mad.

Actually sorry to say it, but the above post is pretty useless.

Having looked at both the GTX570 and the HD6970. There is so little between them it's unreal. They both excel at specific games, they are both capable of doign triple screen setups and 3d viewing, both are epic.

The only reason I went with the GTX570 was because it had physx (i'm getting a dedicated physx card now anyway) and because it got better FPS in the games I was playing. For any triple screen setup though, the 69XX series is better purely from the fact you can run it on a single screen. Also if you have SLi apparently there is a problem when you alt-tab out of the game it disables your second GPU. Not sure of the validity of that since someone on here told me.

But either way, both cards will do the job well. The 69xx can do it cheaper.

You mad?
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/review...ty-vs-sli.html

6950/70 for eyefinity is much better than 580 sli in cost to performance ratio and sometimes in sheer performance too.

Single screen: id say get the 570sli, more than enough to pwn any game to death, even on 2560x1600

I heard y'all are mad?

Also physx is stupid. Have fun playing your 11 supported games. Don't buy a gpu for physx, buy it for it's performance to cost ratio.

Normally I wouldnt mind seeing nvidia fanbois being fed a serving of jerked Crow..

I take umbrage at the two posts you put up...just because they wish to do what they do...does not mean we have to stoop to their level...

Personally I love the competition..it keeps innovation high and prices for us consumers low... So lets hope AMD's 6900 series will get nvidia to drop low enough that we dont have the continual calls of "PHYSX!!!! F@H!!!" as the whole justification of paying nvidia prices...

Also hope that AMD can take their momentum to innovate more and keep nvidia honest...

I'm not quite sure what you're refering too... I just put that up incase anyone is mad xD.
How do I stoop to their level, by blatantly explaining that physx is dumb?
http://www.geforce.com/#/GamesandApps/PhysX
my apologies, 14 games, not 11. Yes all 14 games, much fun are they not?

Until devs, embrace physx as a significant part of gaming and coding, physx is still a cheap side show, does not warrant me buying an nvidia gpu simply for that.

And OP is using this for eyefinity, and as shown by just one of my benches, it would make more sense to purchase a 6970, especially for the vram. At $370 or $300, you just can't beat the performance.

That being said, for single screen 570 sli is hands down the best.

Just FYI, I'm a proud owner of gtx 460 sli 1gb, and stock voltage OCed to 1.087v 875/1750/1900 not a bad OC, especially since it beats the gtx 470 sli (stock) and 5970 performance.
