Gaming laptop? what to buy

Thread Starter
i have roughly a grand to spend, I do not wish to go over that, i want something fast and powerful, i have been looking at alienware and asus but not sure what to buy, and if its powerful i dont want some ugly looking huge turd.

also, im looking at 17" ONLY, squinting my eyes at a damn 15 is annoying.

any help is greatly appreciated thank you all

Whatever you do, avoid GMA like the plague.

Alienware is known here as a mega rip-off. Just saying.

Does 15.6 count as 15inch?

Decent mid tier gaming lappy: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16834157466

$600 ($50 off code) + $50 MIR = $550

It has an i3 and a 5650 (about equal to a desktop 4650 DDR3 or slightly slower than the 4670, and it's very overclockable). Then take the $450 you have left and build yourself a budget gaming desktop.

If not, then there's this laptop with the i7-720QM and the 5650m for $900:

I'm surprised the Asus G73 hasn't been recommended yet... do it!

The G73 is probably the most aesthetic 17" lappy out there. I too have been thinking of getting a 15.6" - 17" gaming lappy due to space constraints. The Asus G53 and G73 sure due fit the bill if you are willing to sacrifice not having SB, which IMO is not a big deal.

Look on newegg for recertifed G53s and G73s, you will find them for sub 1K.
