Need help with CPU decision!

Hello,
I just registered here and the forum is awesome! You guys have done a great job and it is all so helpfull!
I can't decide which processor to buy.. I know some stuff about processors but I dont consider myself as an expert so i am going to ask you. I am going to build a budget PC for casual-online gaming, watching HD movies, streaming etc. But mostly for gaming (not hardcore though, crysis is not in my list). The processors I have in mind are the Intel Core i3 560 (3.33 GHZ,4MB Cache) and the Intel Core i3 2100 (3.1 Ghz, 3MB Cache). The i3 2100 is a brandnew processor as you know and when I saw it i was like ' mm the i3 560 is better '. But then I read some reviews and compared the both processors..the i3 2100 has more features than the i3 560. but the i3 2100 has less cache To simplify, ia m going to give the links of the both processors : http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=50177 Intel Core i3 560; http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=53422 Intel Core i3 2100. And the comparison : http://ark.intel.com/Compare.aspx?ids=50177,53422,

So what do you think? I am kinda impatient and I want to collect money asap.. thats the main reason for deciding not to spend more money.. well, this is dumb but my current PC is awful.. I need suggestions about building a PC, too. like which brands are the best and what should I be looking for. ANY help will be appreciated, since I am like level 1

p.s.: sorry if this is not in the right section.

Both of those CPUs will play Crysis if on the correct system, and mildly OCd
I'm not an expert in Intel, but I'd take the 2100. SandyBridge, well performing platform. You won't notice the less cache or lower freq.

As of the brands- Asus and Gigabyte is what you should look for in a Mobo. (AsRock have good boards here and there too..)
Ram - Kingston and Corsair are well performing and cheap.
GPU - Asus, Gainward, Evga.. and more, depends on the actual card.
I hope this random info would be of help Cheers and Welcome to OCN!

Welcome to OCN

First off your in the right section. Secondly, the 560 is going to be a better processor, but it is on a dying platform (LGA1156) where as the i3 2100 is on a new platform (LGA1155). The i3 2100 is what I would buy in your situation as it would give me a way to upgrade in the future as i expect intel will make better LGA1155 CPUs.

Brands I Like:
Case: Antec, Coolermater
Motherboard: ASUS, Gigabyte
Video Card: ASUS, Sapphure
RAM: Corsair, gSkill
Hard Drive: Western Digital
Power Supply: Corsair, Enermax, Antec

Hope this helped,

Thanks alot, you helped me!
I will wait for benchmarks, too.
I saw some benchmarks where the Intel Core i3 2100 was much higher than the other i3 processors. Btw, I didnt see the i3 560 anywhere.. just the i3 540. This is kinda weird to me..and also when I went to Intel's website and opened the i3 family processors the i3 560 was not there...
Yeah I was thinking about this too..the LGA1155 is brandnew and SandyBridge is the new technology, right? eh it is gonna be a hard decision.. up to how much can I oc the i3 560? i am going to be using air cooling.nothing expensive..

I would love to see more answers! I am going to bed now and I am thinking of browsing the forums tomorrow! thanks for your future assistance!

I found some new benchmarks and the i3 2100 is above all the other processors from i3 in all spheres (games, rendering etc). I also noticed that the LGA1155 mainboards are better than 1156 and they are the the same price! the new is new! I am about to get the i3 2100..

But do you think that there is going to be a big difference in the performance of the both processors? And last question, what are these two for:
Intel® Quick Sync Video - Yes
Intel® InTRU™ 3D Technology - Yes (kinda know what, but not sure)
