Ahh, okay. Well I will only be OC'ing if I think I will see a drastic improvement in how quickly videos render.

don't get me wrong on the cooler... i own one to. i moved it to my son's build. i really think you should try to save some money where you can. get a nice 550w psu, and maybe go with this case. it has great airflow and is half the price with free shipping. put your money where it will count the most.

and here is a link so you can compare cpu speeds for what you want

I removed the Storm Sniper and put in the case you suggested and it knocked nearly $100 off the total. I also knocked off an additional $20 with a 550w psu someone suggested earlier. Looks like I'm going to come out of this build with a little more leftover cash than I anticipated. Thanks guys!

Don't get the 6850 if you're not gaming. Get a GTS 450 for the benefit of CUDA in Photoshop CS5 and some video rendering programs.

CM 690 is getting old and I'm not too satsified with the design (i.e. interior cable management, cooling, tool-less features...). Though it's $10 more because of no rebates, I'd take the Lancool K58W over it any day. I actually switched from a CM-690 to a K58W, it was such a great choice.

F3 1TB on Superbiiz costs the same, it's a better drive

Editing videos you will want to have more than one HDD, even if the other is a cheaper, smaller one. What you do is put the program and the pagefile on one HDD, and put the pagefile on the other one, and you should see a speed up in the live preview. Check my article about it (purple link) in my sig, I wrote it just last night. Rendering from HDD to HDD (reading source files from one HDD, writing them to another) may also help. You can trust me with this advice as I edit on Vegas Pro 10 myself

Also, high speed/low timings memory would also be a must for these RAM intensive programs. For a great budget choice, get 4x2GB of this and overclock to 1600 8-8-8 or perhaps 7-8-7. They should be capable at those timings, or you can take it to 2000 CL9.

Last thing, don't buy Hyper 212+ on Newegg, complete ripoff with the shipping charges; either

or upgrade it to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118059 which is better and costs nearly the same before rebate.

Guys.... I fail to see how the Antec 550W is cheaper. There's a $20 MIR on the OCZ 600W PSU that brings it down to $54 compared to $65 for the Antec ($11 difference).

Also why not grab a GTX 460 for $108 after MIR instead of the 450 (a $13 price difference). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814162058 (or if you think that card seems a bit sketchy then this MSI for $130 after MIR) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127519

PS: Final words of advice keep your current build saved somewhere and start from scratch trying to take advantage of combo deals and see if you can bring the price down slightly. I'm thinking you should be able to do this for under $900 after the dust settles and you get your rebates.

Maybe this 560 and ASUS mobo for $304 after MIR's: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.598834

Also too bad these baby's are sold out.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104203 $25 after MIR is a sweet deal, 2 sets and you're up to 8GB.

PS: Yes I totally took those parts out of xd_1771's "AMD Win" thread.

Here's an idea:

Antec EarthWatts 650W

1090T + Asus Mobo

2X Patriot 2x4GB kit

Re-certified GTX470

2 of these: 1TB drives

RoseWill case

Optical <There has to be a better deal than this going... check around.

Apply Promo Codes:
EMCKHHH44
EMCKHHH26
EMCKHHH37

That's ~$925, has the 1090T, 16GB RAM, 2x1TB drives, Asus Mobo with 8+2 "phase power," Great PSU and a GTX470.

If you want to save money on this build. just drop the GPU all-together and save up for that later on down the road. CUDA acceleration is pretty limited at this point from what I understand. A GTX470 for $200 is a great buy and may give you some speed ups in a few areas, but it probably won't be for another few years before CUDA is being utilized more heavily in these pro apps. You can use the onboard 4250 video or just slap a $50 GT240/220/430 type card in there and be fine for awhile.
