network speed issues

Thread Starter
just got a new modem as the old one had been thrown and cracked the case. internet seemed fine for a week or so but it seems to get progressively slower. theres two wired devices and 2-3 wireless ones. theres an xbox(wired) my desktop(wired) and 2-3 laptops. my room mate with the xbox says he can only play with an open nat, and i think thats one of the issues why it gets slow. theres a password through the router and security. but i enabled universal pp.
just trying to figure out why its doing this. my room mate thinks that resetting the modem and router for some reason i dont know why both of them. every time it slows down is a solution to the problem..

usage wise im either browsing the web, watching hulu/streaming the radio, or playing cod BO. only download at night
the mac: is about the same besides cod
xbox: call of duty
hp laptop: skype, surfing the web

we have 3meg bandwith but we tested our connection when the xbox and my desktop were playing cod and the download was around 2.5 maybe 2 using speedtest. i also try and monitor my network usage with task manager.

Which router?

Also you should be able to enable uPnP on the router and his xbox will say 'open NAT'.
