Should I trade my gtx 570 to 6970

Hi,

I was offer to trade my MSI 570 to HIS 2G 6970 (no extra cost), since the other guy need cuda to do his adobe premiere work.

my rig is i7 950, p6t, 6g cl7 ram, 1k psu, and dell 30" wfp

I read a lot of reviews stating that 6970 is great for people who game at high res, (which I do, 1920/2560), and the ATI MLAA gives better eye candies than Nvidia.

But I also read that there is no much OC head room for 6970, (880 stock, can only oc to 950mhz), I could oc my 570 to 960 stable with 1.1v, which is better than 580..

I am going to do two cards in the future, and I read 69 CF > 570 SLI, but also more heat and noise.

so basically I need your expert advices, should I go red? or should I keep green.

Thanks in advance.
B

Oh and if hes your friend you can do him a favor, because the performance is really the same, and I've heard so many horror stories from GTX 570 OC, but thats mainly from the powerlimit removal I think, but still, and the HD 6970 can do 1Ghz with 1.3V, but idk. It isn
t that noisy, I can keep my % @ 30 while not hitting 75c (tho with HAF 932 and good airflow) but yeah. The only reason you would want to do it would be /1: Helping your friend OR just wanting to try camping on the red side of the fence!

Thanks man!

He isn't my friend, some guy from Kijiji lol, so does that mean I shouldn't trade?
I have heard enough horror stories about their drivers, which really deter me from going red. The 2g vRam, MLAA and price are the main reasons I am considering.

with the monitor that you have it would probably be a good trade to have the 2gb of vram.

Do you do any renderings or other things that benefit from CUDA? If you are only games, go with the AMD card. But if you need folding, CUDA, or PhysX, stay with the Nvidia one. Both are great cards though as mentioned, the 2GB ram will be a boost for your resolution.

The extra VRAM would be good for you if you are using that monitor. So I say trade it.

PS: But just if you are using it to play games and nothing more serious.

Sorry but 570's and overclocking hasn't exactly been all roses.I would be glad to ditch that GPU before it fails.
