HELP! Bios update fail M4A88TD-V how to recover bios ?

Hi, i am sort of panicing a bit here . . .

I tried to update the bios using asus update tool or something but something went wrong. When i turn on the pc all i get is one red light on the mobo and no visual output.

How do i use the asus crashfree 3 utility, the manual says check the website and the ewbsite says check the manual, an neither say how to do it.

I am using a spare laptop at the moment, how do i make a bootable flashdrive for the mobo to read . . .?

Thanks

If you can find MB with the same type of bios chip you might be able to do a hotflash, I've done them before and it's not so bad. Otherwise call the company up, ASRock sent me a new one for $15 including shipping which wasn't bad.

[edit] There is no way to boot anything if the bios flash went bad, you can't make a bootable USB for it. Simply put, it's DOA until you get a working bios in it.

This is directly from my ASUS mobo manual:
To recover the BIOS:
1. Turn on the system

2.Insert the support DVD to the optical drive or to the removable device that contains the BIOS file to the USB port or to the floppy disck drive, if supported.

3.The utility automatically checks the devices for the BIOS file. When found, the utility reads the BIOS file and starts flashing the corrupted BIOS file.

4. Turn off the system after the utility completes the updating process and turn on again.

Basically put the BIOS on a USB drive and follow the steps above.

Rename it to your mobo model with no dashes or anything then .rom. Such as M4A88TDM.ROM in my case. If yours is the 1 in your sig I guess it would be M4A88TDV.ROM I don't know if you put the "EVO" part in there or not.

If renaming it to M4A88TDV.ROM doesn't work just try M4A88TDVEVO.ROM . Let me know how it turns out.

Well no luck so far, I cant rename the flashdrive with a (.) in it as it says invalid name and it is too long. But thanks for the suggestion

Does this mean I have lost everything off my RAID array also? if I get a new board, will I have to set up raid again thus losing all of the data on it.

Funnily enough, I made a full backup for some reason on thursday so I wont have lost anything thankfully!

In my manual it says to rename the file not the flash drive itself. Or was that what you meant? It won't let you rename it with a "." ? Also try resetting CMOS before you do the BIOS fix if you get the BIOS file renamed.
