Failing is a possibility, but not really something to worry about. Most HDDs usually goes through 5 years of normal usage without problems.

If you want to make sure everything you've got is backed up, you should look for a raid1 setup - it keeps your performance the same, but everything backuped.


if you want greater performance and still get a safe setup, look for riad1+0 (or raid 10)

and if you've got moeny to spare, a raid5 setup..




But, not doubt that the best setup would be on with an SSD involved
