try using 250 x16
set your nb at 2500-2800 the higher the better
put your ram at 1333 if possible or as close to 1333 as you can get and just crunch your timings after u hit 4ghz on your cpu.
set your ht 2000

cpu vid @1.45v to start with and push higher one step as needed till your stable but dont exceed 1.5v if possible
cpu-nb @1.2-1.25v unless exceeding 2900 then go 1.3v
keep your dram voltage on auto
up your cpu pll to 2.55 if possible it helps boot faster and adds a 1c drop in temp during start up.

after you hit a 4ghz stable then try and get your ram timings to 7-7-7-20-cr1 or lower if possible

also if you are stable at 250fsb you can try upping the fsb and lowering the multiplier for added performance and a little bit faster boot speeds.

also remember to turn off cool and quiet

yes lower it to 1333 just to start out after you hit 4ghz you can raise it back up and see if its stable if it is then thats an added bonus and crunch the timings down to 8-8-8-22-cr1 if its not stable after youve hit stability at 4ghz on your cpu leave it at 1333 and crunch the timings to 7-7-7-20-cr1 or lower if possible either way you gain performance when you crunch the timings down but only do this after you pass 8-12hrs of p95 small ffts as well as a 8-12hr blend test in p95. also if you want added piece of mind you can run 50 runs of linx at 2048 or higher. its your call but i would def at least run p95 blend test for 8-12hrs if you pass with no errors your stable

i myself use 3dmark06, 3dmark11, pcmark vantage, auqamark and amd overdrive. i probably use to many but i like having a wide variety of scores to compare. i would stick to 3dmark06 and pcmark vantage. unless you have a dx11 compatible gpu you cant use 3dmark11.

okey som im running @ 4.013ghz now vcore 1.39, 250x16 multiplier, NB @ 2508mhz and memory @ 1333mhz. temps in AMD overdrive for monitoring are at 51.75c - 52.5c good or should i abort?

i always tried to lower my ram for cpu overclocks in the past and it was very bad because the ram seems to be very picky when changing freq without adjusting timings and if you dont know exactly what timings you need @1333 it will be a nightmare if you run into problems. first thing you should do is check if your ram is stable and what it is capable of.

and then you can go for the cpu and when you encounter problems you will have a good idea if its the memory or not.

oh well you have a asus board so it will take care of all the timings and voltage... never mind me saying the stuff above....

your temps seem fine try and keep the cores below 55c at load
the cooler the better

ive always had good results dropping my ram freq to 1333 and upping the timings last. each bored is different for each person though.
