[Tom's]German Politicians Hold a LAN Party in Parliament - Page 4

http://video.zeit.de/video/801260376001

Short video about this, only a minute and a half. Not much is discussed short of explaining about the event.

First lady interviewed is the ex Justizministerin, which is Attorney General. For her, it was not just about having fun, but about discovery, especially about games such as the controversial Counter Strike.

"I don't play any games at all myself, I am just interested in finding out about all sorts of things in this world, as I'm interested in many different things regardless. I was amazed to find out that there is something like a sports league for counter strike. I did not know this until tonight."

Second woman is the "drugs commissioner" for the government. Which seems to be the same term in english! Commissioner of food and drugs administration. In any case, she looks at it with more criticism.
"It is important because a lot of colleagues who are 'educators' (parents, i'd say?) and are having fun do not know that a lot of these internet games can cause many problems."

This is a step beyond the "Eltern (parent)-LAN", which helps parents/educators discover and understand more about their children's hobby.

I have done this when I was young (playing Fifa, Tekken etc...) and have seen it happen. I also find myself wanting to drive a lot faster on the roads having played something like Gran Turismo 5. Obviously i'm not pulling stupid manoeuvres, but I have noted myself driving faster simply because I was stuck in the mindset of a game.

It's worrying, but it really makes me think there are people who take what I have seen/experienced to an extreme. It's not solely defined with video games, but also other media such as films and potentially music.
I don't go crazy, but the scene I'm in brings back a memory of some sort, like... what would <name> do in this situation, or what would happen etc. But I surely don't let it take over me. The thoughts and the memories are there, but it's one of those things you just gotta think past.

Angry people will get angry with or without a game. You can't blame a game for a persons personality.

True, but it acts very well as a catalyst. People don't get angry without a reason to get angry.
