Have some questions for you ssd guys.

Ok so here is the deal I'm getting a SSD in a week or so still trying to pick what I want. I been looking at the Intel X25-M also the Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe but it just went out of stock again on the egg. So anyways on to my questions.

I reformat a lot like every 3-6 months mostly as I feel windows loses it's quickness. Now maybe this wont happen on a SSD and I will still feel its very fast. Now what I want to know is say I reformat every 6 months is that going to ruin my drive super fast?

Also I have a AMD based system is there TRIM supported in AMDs AHCI drivers now or not I have read so much I don't really have any idea if there is or not.

Lastly all this stuff you need to change just sounds like a pain in the butt am I just looking into ruining my drive too much? I'm like super worried I will kill this drive in 6 months to a year and it be worthless.

1) No
2) Just use msahci
3) How is this different from question 1?

Something like the c300 was quoted to have a conservatively rated usable lifetime of 72 TB of written data.
This is equivalent to 40GB per day every day for 5 years.

1 vs 2 I guess there kinda the same other then all the changes you need to make and hope you don't miss one as a lot of guides on what to change are different. As for the 72TB thing the Intel from what I have read is only 7.5TB - 15TB so I guess that would be a bad buy?

C3/400, or wait for the Mushkin to be back in stock. I recently got one of the "updated" OCZ ones, and I am not impressed at all. Ordered a 120G, and basically have just over 100G usable. =(

I don't think your going to see a significant decrease in speed. I have the Intel X25-M on my desktop and not once have I notice it lagged. I've since then moved it to my laptop and do I miss it on my desktop.

AMD AHCI drivers don't have TRIM, like someone else said just use the Microsoft drivers.

Yea I will not buy OCZ would not have even if they where still 34nm or whatever. As for the AMD drivers all over the place people are saying it has TRIM now so I don't know.
