Fresh Install? - Page 2

If you do a reinstall of windows 7 without reformatting it gives you the option to save all your data in a windows.old folder in on your C drive. Your applications will not work obviously but all data for said applications will be in that folder. I wouldn't trust this feature completely and would back up sensitive data to an external.

Not exactly sure. I have yet had to call Microsoft for any problems.
