The name brand has little to do with it (except for the fact that I saw some corsair power supplies listed on the recommended list, that is what all the ones I was looking at were based on). The reason I am leaning towards that one is simply because it is 600w and is a good price. Like you said my reasoning may be right or wrong that is why I am asking. One more question, anyone ever have problems returning anything to newegg? I have bought from them many times but have never had to return anything. I am going to try to return the crappy power supply.

Neither of the Rosewill's that you listed are on the Recommended PSU List.

Well in this case the OCZ you listed is on par or slightly better, and slightly cheaper, especially after rebate.

Sorry if it seemed like I was hostile, but Corsair has a really annoyingly strong cult following, and a nearly as strong misconception that they're magically better than anything else. You should have seen this section before I joined, people did nothing but recommend overpriced Corsair units. I like to think that my efforts are part of what have forced Corsair to be more competitive with their pricing. But in the meantime, about one in five enthusiasts still have this weird attachment to the Corsair name, and have to be corrected to stop them from spending more on a Corsair when there's a comparable, better, or sometimes even identical unit from a different brand.

EDIT: On Newegg returns, well, if it's past 30 days you're out of luck. If still within that time frame then they're usually pretty reasonable, though you will be charged a restocking fee and sometimes shipping. It may not be worth it.

I get what you are saying and agree it is stupid to base a decision solely on name brand (like the whole Iphone cult for example). All I want to know is am I going to have any issues if I buy that power supply. I don't want to spend more money only to have my computer still not work properly.

Any ideas on what I could use the power supply for? Perhaps a test power supply? Or paperweight?

Two things. First, you can't go by just brand name. There is a big difference between the Rosewill RV series and their RG series. Most of the other brands have similar differences between some of their products. Antec which for the most part sells good quality PSU's has some that are less than stellar, namely their Basiq line. The Basiq isn't terrible, but it isn't nearly as good as their EarthWatts, NeoECO, or TruePower New series. Every other brand has the same issues so when you look at that Recommended PSU List you have to look at the specific models listed, not just the brand name.

Second, no I didn't. It is spelled Rosewill and has been for close to 10 years.

No way to know 100% certain without trying it, but I would say it's 98% certain that the PSU is at fault. Until you get a good PSU there is no way to know for sure if one or more of the other components was damaged or not.

Paper Weight or Target Practice. You don't want to hook it up to anything. No one with any integrity would even think of selling or giving it to anyone else knowing that it could very well destroy their system,

I agree and I did not mean I was solely using the name brands as a guide more to see what to stay away from rather than what to buy.

I did not realize that and I didn't mean anything by that just trying to joke around a little bit. Don't worry I'm not one of those forum nazis that has to correct everyone's grammar.
