Wow, all I said was apple DID charge for something that is viewed as a service pack to many and I get flamed like theres no tomorrow. I never said Microsoft didn't, my point was apple has charged for updates before...Please, don't try putting words in my mouth, it makes you look silly.

another apple thread with more bashing...

android has hotspot but it's not free. apple has hotspot and it's not free and the whole world thinks apple is crazy.

before any smartass tells me an unlocked unbranded android has hotspot for free, you can do the same to any phone by root or jailbreak...

you guys are a morning laugh everyday...

Snow Leopard is a "full version", and is quite different from it's predecessor Leopard. The numbering tells the tale, the minor number is the "version" of OSX: 10.2.x = Jaguar; 10.3.x = Panther; 10.4.x = Tiger; 10.5.x = Leopard; 10.6.x = Snow Leopard; and 10.7.x = Lion.

Snow Leopard was a bit less of a full version because it was a heavily optimized derivative of Leopard, and dropped PPC support altogether. The equivalent to a Service Pack is the Update, so going from 10.6.1 to 10.6.2 is similar to a service pack. There are also security updates that generally do not increment the sub-minor number. Snow Leopard was also inexpensive - like $29, which doesn't even pay the sales tax on a Windows release. But then maybe it should be cheap, because it can't run very much software and only a few games...

Lots of Android phones come that out of the box.

Also, 4.3 is only available for the 3GS and up. Looks like Apple is fracturing their marketplace again. If I still had my iPod Touch 2G I would be pissed at being unable to install newer apps because of a soft iOS 4.3 requirement.

I suppose you're right but if you look at it in terms of what it does most would call it a service pack. When I upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 I was pretty disappointed, it was as if SL just filled in the gaps that leopard left behind.

If I remember correctly, AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon all charge extra for hotspot...T-Mobile I don't even bother to keep up with them...

However, you can get around it by installing an app or flashing a new rom to enable stock hotspot. I haven't kept updated about it lately though so maybe there's new methods.

The iPhone 1st/2nd Gen are really old lol...I'm surprised it got updated to 4.0 to be honest...

However for that argument, Android is number 1 for that lol. All of their 1st/2nd/3rd gen or "underpowered" headsets are useless.

i think it's good that Apple's making an effort to close the gap between jailbroken features and legitimate features. the sketchy part is they're trying to profit off it.

But still, this isn't going to want to make me, or anyone else with a jailbroken phone want to switch over to Apple's OFW, but if i were a true apple fanb0y i would be more discouraged to jailbreak my iPhone/ipod/ipad if some handy jailbreak features are available through Apple's OFW

Android doesn't restrict market access by version though. If a phone is still running 1.6 or 2.1 the worst you'll usually see is a warning about compatibility or performance due to the lack of JIT compilation.

I've had the App store refuse to install apps because I was using iOS 4.0 instead of 4.1, and once when I was using 3.1 instead of 3.1.2. I actually had to use Installous and download the app from a 3rd party to get it to install.
