EVGA vs Asus DCII 570

The two cards in question are
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-593-_-Product
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-432-_-Product

The warranty is the biggest sticking point, not the lifetime vs 3 years (as i'll likely have upgraded), but the fact that I have confirmation that overclocking below the voltage cap doesn't void EVGA's warranty, but I can't seem to find any hard evidence either way on Asus.

I'll most likely avoid going beyond 1.05v, since 1.06+ seems to be the dangerous area for 570s, but I still want to know that I won't end up with a $350 brick and a voided warranty if I get a card that can't handle much over stock.

I want the DCII, but if Asus isn't supportive of overclocking I'll just go with the EVGA. The 9800GT is just killing me at this point, and Mobo won't be changed out until I can get a AM3+.

So, is Asus a friend to overclocking? Or should I settle for the safety of EVGA and a reference cooler?

ASUS is a friend to overclocking. They have a very good warranty program. It is not as good as EVGA, however EVGA's cooling systems are just..terrible.

Go with ASUS, they are good with RMAs. ASUS is no questions asked for RMAs unless you have hard modded something.

I love my EVGA card, but they're honestly a bit expensive. I'd probably take the ASUS card.

I'd take the EVGA card, only because after sales support for EVGA is worth something, on the ASUS side it has been absolutely terrible on my end... for others it's great though.. so idk, to each his own.

Plus.. 3 slots on the Asus 570? On a card that already runs pretty cool and quiet? I know that this is OCN, and bigger is better [liek oh ma gawd, tats wat shee said brah], but this is just overkill, and quite frankly a waste of slots imo.

EVGA has never failed me, Asus has, so yeah, I'm biased.

As per your question, yes Asus is fine with OCing... even if they're not, not like they will ever know >.>

I'm not worried about 3 Slots, I've only got one PCI slot on this mobo, and I'll just keep it in mind when I buy an AM3+ board (or a 1155 board if AMD faceplants with Bulldozer).

I did, breifly. From the reviews I've seen the Twin Frozr 2 beats the 2-slot DCII cooler (so the 560s) but the 3-slot DCII is untouchable. Why pay $10 more for worse cooling? If I end up with SLI, the Twin Frozr 2 will likely be my fallback if I can't have the top card be 3 slots. Course I might just end up going over to Kepler around the time I'd consider SLI.

The ASUS because:
Better VRMs/components
Better cooling
Better resale value (warranty through serial no registration)
No stupid power limiter

What is this power limiter you speak of?
Also you do realise EVGA bin there GPU's? They are the only company that does(was told this by a solid source)

Thanks, Sir Overkill
