[BD]New F.E.A.R. 3 trailer goes over several game features - Page 2

The first two games shifted from action to horror about as smoothly as a Ferrari down-shifts from sixth to third. I'm hoping this one might be a little more seamless.

FEAR 2's graphics were current. Just a step below Crysis/Metro 2033.

The first installment was a masterpiece, then it started to center on action and the story fell apart.

So you want to anticipate your horror? Doesn't that defeat the purpose entirely?

The graphics and physics were barely changed from FEAR 1, so don't start this junk. a system that barely met crysis hardware requirements would be more than enough to go 1080p with med-high settings and great framerates.

it wasn't even close to either game, but it did entertain with a good dose more horror than metro

ROFL! If you think so then you need to go play both, side by side. FEAR 2 is graphically superior in every way to FEAR 1. Its like saying Far Cry and Crysis have the same graphics.

I think you're misunderstanding me. I meant that FEAR 2 has current graphics and it's a step down from cutting edge games. That has nothing to do with the hardware requirements.

I don't know how you managed to misinterpret my comment as a comparison of the games themselves. It was merely a comment about the graphical level of FEAR 2.

So the fact that they use the same graphics engine (Jupiter EX) means nothing? I'd say it makes them pretty similar. I'd compare the graphics to something closer to CS:S with pretty textures.

You saying a game with graphical qualities that are current doesn't really hold water, unless you are referring to the year 2005, when that engine was created. Yeah, it was current then.

By that alone I know you've never actually played the game. The differences between the two games are noticeable with screen shots and night and day when actually playing.

Just because the engine is very similar doesn't mean there can't be key improvements. It's like saying Half-Life 2 when it first came out is the EXACT same as HL2:Ep2 using Fakefactory.

I take it you can't drive on a manual transmission.

My point was that all the FEAR games up to now have been the exact opposite. The minute you hadn't shot a bullet in thirty seconds, you knew for a fact that a "scary" scripted event was coming up. Nothing scary about it after the second time once you figured out what was going on.

......still was kinda scary for me.....

The thing that scares the s--t out of me with FEAR is how you go down those ladders. After the first FEAR, i keep expecting Alma to pop out when I go down.

And yeah I def agree with your point. When you KNOW stuff is going down it takes a LOT of the edge off. FEAR 2 and Dead Space 2 have that issue a bit. What they need is randomizers so you never know when things are gonna happen.
