LoL that's exactly what I said when I described it as a step down from the cutting edge games. Nothing wrong with that at all b/c it felt balanced, I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of guns and the Mech you get to 'drive'.

You're just saying it in a 'glass is half empty' type way.

I applaud Monolith for NOT going back to what worked in F.E.A.R. 1 b/c that makes it very boring. Yes, this one was far more action packed but I enjoyed the fact that they picked and choose their times to scare you, building suspense along the way with the static and your flashlight going out.

"why is there a girl's foot in front of me at the top of this ladder?" is more alarming to me than "Oh noes I'm being pulled down a burning hallway towards something bad"
I understand your point but Dead Space is less horror, more suspense because you know what to expect, which is why I can respect Monolith's decision to vary it up a little.

If you died or restarted you have a whole new set of problems. It seems too many developers rely on multiplayer for their 'random encounter' replay value. This is what made the first Diablo game for me.
It would definitely add to the replay value, but I'm sure it would have a trade-off, like them having to cut an hour of playtime due to the complexity of programming something like that.

they weren't being done by Monolith.

Let's say you're cruising along on a freeway in a car - you're in sixth gear, going steady, and then you come up on a hill. You want to get a little extra speed going up, so you decide to downshift to fifth - but instead of putting your transmission in fifth, you bollocks it up and go to third instead.

That experience in a car is similarly smooth to how the FEAR games have thus far handled the transition between combat and horror.

FEAR was a sick game.
One of the best shooters I've played in the last 10 years.

I haven't ripped through FEAR2 yet but I am going to soon.
Bad Company 2's campaign might be too boring for me to finish, but I haven't been consistent with it so maybe I just need to buckle down and play.

How old are you?
6 years old?

As much as RE5 was "fun"...it was a bad spin as opposed to other RE series.
The majority of the game is in broad day light.
You can get damage dealing weapons quite early in the game.
You have a partner.
Despite being outnumbered, enemies don't really attack.

F.E.A.R. 1 was actually scary.
F.E.A.R. 2 got boring/not scary after 30mins.
And afaik, F.E.A.R. 3 is going back somewhat to it's roots.

nah. The gameplay they've been showing off makes it look like FEAR 2 but with more action actually. I was watching some co-op footage awhile back and it just looked like alot of gun fire and respawning enemies that werent scary at all.
