I suggest C# - modern and powerful, yet easy.

I always recommend jumping straight in to C++. It's how I learned, anyway. I found learning everything after that was really easy.

If you know *absolutely nothing* then you will probably stumble a little at the beginning. Are you a quick learner? You could do some research online on some of the super super basics. Like statements, variables, data types, etc. Then the book is gentle on the basics like classes, methods, etc.

Good to hear. It's a great book.

If you are absolutely new to programming, my best advice is that you stick to it. You will become frustrated at first no matter what book you start with. Just realize that it will eventually become easier and easier with time.
