Slow DVD read speeds.

Hi guys, I recently upgraded my sigrig and got a Samsung SH-S223c SATA DVD burner. If I plug it into the AMD SB850 SATA III plugs the computer will freeze during post.

However if I plug it into the Jmicron SATAII ports the computer will boot up fine, but with some discs the read speed is terrible. IL-2 was really slow, Sims 3 (for my sister ) was slow, but COD 2 was fine.

I tried checking up in properties, and changing the mode from IDE to AHCI and back again but this did not help. Neither did updating the firmware.
Does anyone have any ideas? Should I return the drive or is it my motherboard hating a SATA DVD drive?

Thanks.

Id check for a firmware update first and flash it. If it still causes issues send it back for a replacement or refund.
