Need help getting eyefinty working...

I have searched high and low all over for a active mini-DP to DVI adapter. I can't order one online. But I did find a

"Startech Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Video Adapter Converter"
on the local stores website. It's description says
Quote:
"DP2HDMI is a passive adapter cable that requires a DP++ port (DisplayPort++), meaning that DVI and HDMI signals can also be passed through the port."

I'm using a ASUS 6870 with 3 ASUS monitors @1080p (with HDMI ports)for the eyefinity setup, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if this will work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should work.

I believe a passive DP-adapter can transfer in 19x12

Thanks for your reply. I already tried a passive mini DP to DVI (dp version1.1) with no luck, why I wanted to ask. I read the mini DP's on my card are dp ver.1.2. This adapter does have the DP++ standard, but is that dp1.2 standard? Will it make a difference? Does anyone know why some passives work and some don't? Do all passives need to use the VGA?

A bunch of questions, I'm still really confused.

Honestly, it's just hit or miss sometimes with the adapters. That's why AMD has a list on their site of known working ones smile.gif.

As for the Startech, I've seen that most people aren't buying it because it's not a validated dongle. I'd check here and see if your local store has any of the validated dongles before purchasing.

Yes, you are fine with DP++ support.

Here is an Active mini-DP-to-DVI adapter:

Alternatively, use a mini-DP-to-DP adapter with an Active DP-to-DVI adapter:

thanks everyone for posting all this info, these forums are really great. I did end up buying the mini DP to HDMI as well as ordered a powercolor Active mini DP to DVI just in case it doesn't work.

Now with this one(mini DP to HDMI) I can see my monitors(all 3) but can only create a group for 2 of them. I'm guessing that I am missing something real simple or it doesn't work. all 3 monitor are there in the CCC. Any ideas?

Its not working because its not the right type of adapter. The one you have must be passive.
