am i the only guy who found that this game really heated up the pcb/vrms on the graphics cards?
i nearly gave birth to a little brown army when i see the temps this game was making!

For a game being based off of a book it sure was boring (to me). I haven't read the book, but it has to be a million times more interesting.

The air filter gas mask thing was just awful. Not worth the 50 I spent on it when it released. Hopefully Homefront will be nothing like it.

As for mine, the game totally blown me. And especially when you hear what do people talk which was very realistic and not "repetitive". It's kind of perfect.

Also, the game totally makes sense as mejobloggs and its a nobrainer to figure out the answers to your questions... seriously.
This. I'm on 3rd playthrough.

The thing people misunderstand about graphics is actual graphics vs. gimmick/wow-effect (no, not WoW-effect, you silly you). Crysis had extremely good graphics for it's time (2011 games are catching up, so about 4 years ahead of it's time) and featured a beautiful, high contrast jungle environment with plenty of possibilities to show off new lighting tech and good physics followed by an ice-covered and very fascinating area.

The high contrast is key in giving people a wow-effect. Just look at display TV's, their contrast is always f'ed up, because we initially see them as more vivid, sharp and beautiful. It's a bias in the human brain (probably because summer, where the sun makes the world more colorful = more food and warmth some 100,000 years ago) and that high-contrast world is in fact not necessarily more realistic or better looking, it's just more appealing to something inside our brain.

Metro 2033 OTOH does not have those environments. It features a boring, yet slightly creepy tunnel system with a few levels outside that feature lots of clouds. This gives it a grey and low-contrast look, which doesn't have a wow-effect. The actual graphics (textures, lighting and modelling) are superior to most games out there and possibly even Crysis. Someone who can see past the contrast and cheap tricks developers use will see how much of a technical achievement Metro is.

The atmosphere and story are also far better than Crysis, but I guess most people don't realize that this isn't a run 'n' gun action shooter. It's more a first person perspective survival RPG that's meant to tell a story. It's the game equivalent of a movie and by far the best one I've seen.

Note that I'm not bashing Crysis, it's quite an achievement to make a game like it, I'm just saying that it doesn't necessarily have better graphics and story as Metro. And even then, they're in no way comparable. They are different genres/sub-genres and they have different artistic style. People that buy Metro for graphics that are as good as or better than Crysis' graphics, are stupid if they then complain that Metro wasn't fun and had bad gameplay. It's not meant to compete with Crysis. Crysis was a run 'n' gun shoot 'em up that served more as a tech demo than an actual game while Metro is a post-apocalyptic survival RPG that's trying to tell a story.

ok, but isnt weird that since is perspective RPG, u said it, that in game could be possible to find more bulets for gun... that search just for equipment, in my opinion kills everygame like that...

like i said before, metro, fallout and stalker, goes into same basket...
crysis on the other had is, in my opinion, u can play and enjoy in character since he has all equipment on him + for me story is good and space that u are moving is large, so it cant be boring...

and afterall , i would prefer faster FPS, than some slow, creepy games...
i like horrors games, avp1, avp2, even at some stage f.e.a.r...

You're lucky Metro2033 allowed you that much, lol. Even though I've never played the game, I guess if you logically think about it, it makes sense to not have access to weapons that can only be built and maintained by billion dollar factories with professionals using the right materials that take forever to develop.

But I understand your frustration, like me, little things like these bug me too. Over the top realism in some games are not necessary. (i.e GTAIV. The realisim was so overkill that it became "unreal.")

No, it isn't weird that you have to search for bullets and supplies, it's a first person perspective survival RPG. That's what it was always meant to be. I mean, why are you even buying a game made by the STALKER developers if you didn't like STALKER?

AvP is not a horror game when compared to real horror games. Despite how terrifying I found FEAR when I first played it (I was 10 ), it is, like AvP, more action oriented and as many before me have said, you can't really be scared when you have a gun.
Amnesia, my friend. That game is a horror game.

But okay, you like the fast FPS's. I'll just repeat my question: Why did you buy this game? Metro is not a fast paced game, how could you go into it expecting that experience?

ok, been there, done that with amnesia... i almost crap myself out when i turned lights off and turned speaker louder...

anyway, for stalker, when it first came out, i've been excited since they promoted that game as ultra, mega super details and all BS...
i got disappointed, after few hours, uninstall...
than i skipped second one, and got to last one, where i started to get into it, passed few missions, and got bored again, cause i have to walk all over the map just to get to a point... too slow for me...

again, MY opinion
