Future Build Needs Some PSU Suggestions.

Hello,

I haven't done pc gaming in 5+ years. So this is my step back into the waters.

I would also like to OC in the future and would like this considered when making PSU suggestions.

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF X 942

Mobo: Fatal1ty P67 Professional (picked to match color scheme)

CPU:Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (with Intent to OC)

Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

Vid Card: MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC (EVGA and others recommend 600ish if I recall?)

SSD 1: Crucial RealSSD C300 128gb

HDD 1: WD Caviar Black 1TB

CPU Fan/Heat Sink: Thermaltake Frio (Beats stock, will replace when I move into OC)

Any additional information you need please ask. My siggy also contains any other minor system specs.

Thanks in advance.

That would run fine on an Antec Neo Eco 520, but those are seemingly out of stock over at Newegg.
I think the best value for your money would be this one instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817207010

Modular would be a bonus, budget probably $150ish.

Wouldn't that be too low? Sorry since I'm a newb but since most 580 manufacturers recommended min is 600w I just worry that I would need to upgrade/return the psu right away.

You can ignore manufacturer recommendations, they're usually overestimated. 520w is more than enough for a single GTX 580.

This unit will fit the bill.

If you intend to OC then I would suggest Corsair TX 850 watt. Or new gaming series GS 800. Then a few expansions could also be added especially as they can probably pull 1k, but then just lose 80 % efficiency rate and pulls 1300 out of wall. As mentioned the 800 or w/e they provide is just for their efficiency rate.

First of all, the TX850 would be a poor choice, it's old, outdated, and a pretty average performer.

Secondly, 850w is a pointless waste of money for one GTX 580.

As he said he would do intensive overclocking I would say that his card and CPU will probably use about 50 % more power each. So that easely end up in 200 watt extra (rather want to much than too little). And as his budget is 150 $ no point in saving 30 dollars and need to upgrade in a year or 2. GTX 580 is the most power drawing card as far as I know, and with overclocking 350 watt is not a bad gues I think. Also CPU with overclock - 150 watt then we already hit the 500 (for sure) and then add a fe w other things will mean 650-750 I bet. So 50 or 100 extra won't hurt if he wants a Disc drive or an extra HDD. http://www.gpureview.com/geforce-gtx-580-card-637.html
