The Nook Color requires some work to turn it into a tablet, but CAN get Honeycomb. Just not the highest performer. It might be a good idea to wait a few months, the tablet market is exploding right now because Motorola just dropped Xoom, and i know HP, LG, HTC, and Samsung are all working on Honeycomb tablets.
The wifi only XOOM isn't even out yet (and looks to cost £150 more than the OP wants
). I actually just bought the nook color for myself, since Barnes and Noble Ebay store has a $50 off coupon code. My sister got one as well a while back and had me put Froyo on it (honeycomb is not ready for someone of little technical skill/tolerance for betas). The few times I've been over, I played with it and it's been awesome. At $200, it's not likely going to be hard to sell it again at or near what I paid for it. Heck, I could probably turn around and sell it as soon as I get it for profit. Not sure how expensive it would be for OP to import, but if it's not much, it's a great value. Overclock to 1.1Ghz, and it should be faster than the tab even. Much better screen than the Archos' as well.
The nook seems to be the best value now. You don't get the fancy features like Cell internet, GPS, Cameras, etc, and you have to take about 15 minutes to flash everything, but it's quality.

And so far, every announced tablet worth anything in the next 6 months is well out of the OP's price range. At that price, he won't be getting a tegra 2. Heck, he's lucky B&N released something that powerful at the price they did. Cheaper than the Archos, and every comparison I've seen favors the nook.
