which 6870?

Thread Starter
I am looking to get a new gpu, i am looking at the 6870, it looks like a great card. i was looking at the xfx6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-521-_-Product

or the Asus 6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-418-_-Product

I hear XFX is a great brand in gpu's but i also know that asus makes good boards(as in mobo's), but not sure how they are at Gpu's. I am currently running a Antec neo eco 520 80 plus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371030

I am also running an Asus M4A79XTD Evo Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131402

My monitor is samsung syncmaster T220 http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...39zEmg&cad=rja

what are you thoughts and opinions on which would be the better choice?

I would go with the Asus, DirectCU cooler gets nothing but rave reviews, higher end components placed on GPU, it is slightly cheaper, and slightly higher stock clocks.

Ive heard nothing but great things about the Asus ones but, I am 0 for 3 with Asus cards. Bought 1 open box, no good, one new that didnt work right exchanged it and then the next one HDMI port didnt work. So I moved on and will never look back. Never a bad experience with XFX though. Owned a HD 4770 and HD 4870 both were wonderful.

I would suggest one of the reference rear exhaust cards.

The sapphire Eyefinity 6 Edition runs 12fps higher in crysis at max settings then the XFX card at stock clocks I have both.....I dont run my XFX because there is to much of a bottleneck only adds about 5fps-10fps and lowers my fps in some games like crysis. I need a new cpu :3
