Best Quiet, Fast, and Reliable 1TB HDD?

Thread Starter
My budget is $120 for an HDD like in the thread title. I recently bought a Samsung Spinpoint F3 for my brother's rig and while it's working great at the moment I don't like the sound it makes. The HDD we had before was inaudible.

I'm about to build my own computer soon and I'm asking you guys what's a great HDD that I won't hear from inside it? biggrin.gif

Dang, I havent heard my Spinpoint make any noise at all. I was surprised cuz my Raptor grinds like crazy. Im guessing most of the 5400rpm slower drives may be quiet.

The f3 is a pretty silent hard drive. Its odd that you hear it.

I would reccomend trying to pick up a ssd boot drive. You wont hear anything smile.gif Then get a Samsung F Series ECO Green Ultra-Quiet HD or Western Digital Caviar Green HD for music/data ect

Yeah, I don't get it either but I looked for reviews online and even the good ones say that Spinpoint HDD is audible with descriptions matching to what I'm hearing from it now. Some said it was normal though. My bro's rig only "hummed" before but now with the spinpoint in we get to hear the computer read and write. Kind of annoying but my bro tolerates it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
