[PCGH.de]Cebit 2011: MSI features Bulldozer-enabled AM3-Mainboards and Bios Update - Page 11

It seems simple really, some motherboard manafacturers(example Asrock)have a workaround, this will probably just be a AM3+ socket slapped onto a AM3 motherboard.Personally I dont think all the current AM3's will be compatible, also being totally new architecture its highly unlikely, its not like AM2 to AM3.Also the AM3 boards that are adapted are almost pointless, why buy the Asrock 890 board supporting Bulldozer, just to get it a few weeks sooner, theres bound to be a performance hit somewhere, and lets face it,if you want a processor with features you cant use on a totally inadequate platform then Intel Sandy Bridge and a P67 motherboard will be your best choice.

Bulldozer will not be here that soon Phoenix

AMD has always been backwards compatible with previous sockets so please tell it'll work as if I have to sell up I might as well go to Intel..

May I also remind people of the ASUS M2N SLI thread? Stupidly old motherboards running Phenom 2's?

"No, there are different sockets for bulldozer". How much plainer do you want it? All you've done is read some very simple information in a way that suits you.

Besides AMD have not always had backwards compatibility, that's only a recent thing.

I have just verified with our desktop guys.

BULLDOZER SUPPORTED IN AM3+ ONLY, NOT AM3

Please go about your usual business. I am not answering any other questions about desktop, this was a one time favor because I could see the rumors getting out of control.
