Ram OC Question

Thread Starter
Not sure if i should post this here or in the memory forum but whatever
I am wondering if these OC settings are as fast (lower or higher to) to something along the lines of 1600 9-9-9-9 or 7/8

As i am kinda new to OCing things these settings are for the 1333 9-9-9-24 CM3X2G1333C9D 4gig kit

(i know i only have 1 stick in my crosshair formula wont boot with both sticks in think its ****ed tongue.gif)

The mobo settings look to be in line with what I had when running that clock. As for the ram, well, shame you can't get both sticks to run but they appear to be in line as well from what I can see. You may want to make a post in the Crosshair Formula/Extreme Club thread link found in my sig. Someone there may be able to help you get both sticks running.

Where is your NB Freq set at? 2800-3000MHz works real well.

2006MHz o.0

Well both sticks were working for about 6 months till about 4 days ago i left my pc on overnight came back thinking it was on sleep mode wouldnt wake so i restarted it then gives some bsod about page file then froze then another bsod about memory error and some more **** i dont remember

So thinking it was the ram took 1 out and it started right up first boot put them in all slots testing and it worked in all (each stick so it cant be the ram) but as soon as i put both in the red light for ram/something else starts flashing and wont boot

But if i keep restarting/shutting it down it will boot after about 30 trys but then it will error or freeze 30mins later

Sometimes the VGA light flashing only (thats the time when it did boot with both in)

Is your current setup stable? In other words will it pass say 12-24 hrs of prime95? You may want to run Memtest86 for a while on each stick separately too just to rule it out.

Ive never ran Memtest86 or prime so but it was stable at about the same settings as it is now (was 3.913MHz before i think i uped it because i reset the board) for like 6 months and i had my pc on like a week once but mostly 1 day max or shut off every night

It is generic 1333 CL9 to begin with, a.k.a. lowest of the low. Don't expect it to overclock very well at all. Use HyperPi 32M and HCI Memtest to test overclocked RAM, memtest86+ is useful for finding defective sticks but often doesn't show TRUE OS stability.

My question was would it be faster if i had 1600 at 9-9-9 then the ram i have now or 1600 at lower timings

Because im thinking about getting some 1600 that are rated at 7/8 or 9s just wondering if my ram is as fast as that since it has 6-6-6 timings
The ram is fine dont need to test it
no, at 1000mhz it would be far from
