Upgrade Path

Well the bug to upgrade is really biting me hard right now as I haven't done anything major with my sig rig in over a year. I am wanting to do an upgrade but not sure which way to go.

Path 1 - CPU/RAM/Mobo upgrade
Not sure if I should go i7 950 w/ x58 mobo and 6gigs of RAM or do Socket 1155 w/ 4 gigs of RAM (not sure what mobo's there are as I didn't really keep up with SB but heard about the mobo recall) - In this path I would keep my gtx260's for another year and then upgrade my GPU later along with PSU if needed.

Path 2 - Upgrade my GPU to a GTX580 and stay on Socket 775. I would then upgrade my mobo, cpu, RAM in about a year.

Thanks in advance

My rig is use mainly for gaming (FPS, RTS, MMO's, the whole gambit), emails, and web surfing. I do light video editing and movie encoding. Along with light use of VM's for software testing.

You could always put your rig under water and OC your chip higher. thumb.gif
