how to check if your scroll wheel is busted

Thread Starter
i know this seems silly. But the scroll wheel on my Gigabyte mouse is sans operation apparently

I've never had a problem with it, and it's a 2 month old mouse that set me back just shy of $40 on newegg. I was playing L4D2 and I noticed i couldn't scroll through weapons without the number keys. And now i noticed it doesn't work at all.

I can click it and scroll like that, but rolling does nothing

Is there maybe a mouse setting i hit? (though i don't recall)

the mouse is the gm-m6880

any ideas on what might be wrong with it? I'd like to not buy a new mouse, cause money's tight.

EDIT: i googled it and couldn't find mouse benchmarks...or something to test it

Some things you can check:
1.Did you install any driver for the mouse? Most of them have options to switch buttons or similar things. If yes check in them if there is something about the scroll wheel.
2.Got another computer? Plug it in and look if it work.
3.I don't remember this one a lot, but try to remove the mouse from the device list and plug it back in another USB port.

If it fails, lot of chances it died.
