And I don't see why priming would be time consuming ? Just start it before you go to sleep and let it run till you get home from work the day after ? You won't even notice it's been running for 15hrs or so.



I'm guessing your ram is holding you back. You do have it overclocked a bit, and the standard vdimm voltage may just not cut it. Juice your ram voltage up to 1.60 and test it, OR lower it to BELOW stock to completely rule out memory instability untill you have your cpu stable.
It isn't going to degrade any quicker than it would being stable at the same voltage, it will likely blue screen at times and could cause windows file corruption from the instabilities though.

You are right it wasn't stable. After 14 hours of prime95 only one core was active but I forgot to take a picture because I had to leave really fast and now I don't have it anymore, so I guess I am just irrelevant. It worked for me, the longest I had it on was 72 hours of folding and it was fine, so in my eyes it was stable. Never bsod.

I thought it wouldn't. But hey, I've hit a bump myself lately.
I noticed I've been using Prime95 v25.6. So I downloaded the latest v26.6

With v25.6 I was 24hrs stable with these settings :

21x191 (4.02 Ghz)
vcore 1.328
vtt 1.24
vdimm 1.64 @1520mhz

Now, with prime v26.6, I can't get the damn thing stable anymore
Lowered memory to 1140mhz, 1.55v (BELOW stock), and tried every possible setting with increments of 0.01v, both vcore and vtt, but it keeps failing, every time on the third core.

I'm possitive that vtt is the cullprit, as I know the IMC on the i5-750 is the weakest link when oc'ing. But I've tried from 1.24 upto 1.34 and it keeps failing. First off, IMC shouldn't need 1.30 or more when running 1333 rated mem below stock. In prime v25.6 it keeps on running for days without failing with vtt 1.24 which seems to be about right for my memory. ALSO IBT and LinX BOTH are stable throughout.

WHY are both LinX and IBT stable, but prime95 isn't ?
So bottem line, one is NEVER sure to be 100% stable, cause today in prime v26 you can be stable, but tomorrow in v27 you get a FAIL no matter what you do, allthough they (supposedly) both stress at 100% load.
All this taken in consideration, I feel prime95 isn't at all that reliable for stability. Neither are IBT or Linx, cause you just don't know what to trust in the end.

hmmm well were you doing the blend or large FFT test? When I had my i5 I ran at 4ghz with ddr3 2000 and I had no difference between 1600 and 2000 mhz

I remember I had an OCZ triple channel kit, along with my trusty DFI UT X58-T3eH8. It would pass memtest, it would pass LinX, it would pass prime95 small FFT, but always fail blend test. Turns out the RAM was incompatible (something I never thought really happened, but it is a possibility.) I never bluescreened or anything using it, but it bothered me so switching to this G.Skill kit I've never had problems on any motherboard (Bloodrage, R3E, Classy) stabilizing blend test, even the DFI which gave me trouble.

Only the blends will fail
but this only happens with prime95 v26

With v25 it'll pass for days and days without failing. Last time it actually ran for 48hrs+
IBT,LinX AND MEMTEST all pass 100% so it MUST be the IMC, not the memory modules themselves.
I got a feeling v26 stresses the IMC too much, cause I've been running 4.0ghz for quite some time now after passing every damn test. Never one single BSOD or crqsh or freeze.
It's only now when I thought let's try this new version of prime that I got my first fail. And still no BSOD,freezes or crashes what so ever.

So I really think as for blend testing, prime's new version 26 is a bit over the top for an i5 IMC.

Damn 3rd core to be honest.

I remembered being stable at 3,6GHz at much lower voltage than 3,9GHz. So I tried to see what kind of vcore was required to be stable at 3,6 GHz.

3,91 GHz (195x20) stable:
VCore: 1.375V
VTT: 1.294V
PCH:1.15V
PLL: 1.85V

3,61 GHz (190x19) stable:
VCore: 1.25V
VTT: 1.249V
PCH: 1.1V
PLL: 1.85V

Bad voltage scaling is bad lol.
I'll try with older Prime95 to see if core 3 still fails.
