Is this safe?

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
I have this current setup( look at link) except I have one 92 mm fan in the middle over the core.

How safe is this in terms of cooling of VRMs and other capacitors.

what are you trying to ask?

are you worried about the fan? can you take a picture of what you are talking about?

Looks somewhat like the old mod I did to my GTX 470;

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia-cool...-question.html

If you are monitoring the temp then you're safe Maybe worry about excess weight (if there is any) which is why I had that little support peg added

Ah, specifically to the vrm if you are concerned, and you are running a single fan...
Do you have the original fan still running? If you do, I would build a little shroud out of something or even use some of that metallic duct tape just to properly direct airflow over the components

OP, That is a safe fan mod to do, I have done the same on my gtx 460. Basically you can do it on any GPu which has the copper pipes, you need those to attach the plastic cable ties to.

You can do this mod with 1x120mm fan, or 2x80mm fans etc. All you do is remove the plastic mould from the gpu, and mount the fans over the metal heatsink, and tie the fans down.
