Crossfire overheating wireless card

Thread Starter
Not entirely sure the best forum for this, but since this is an AMD build and might require some retooling, this seems like a decent spot for the thread.

Upgraded from a single sapphire 5770 to crossfire 5770s back in January. Both are the type that exhaust inside the case. With my gigabyte ga-870a-ud3 board, the first pcie is triple slot so there is a slot sitting between the cards. Mild overclock to 900/1220 with load temps for both cards in the mid 60s. This is all cramped inside an antec 300 case with additional case fan intake at the front.

The crossfire setup has worked well for the past month, but I have had (increasing) issues with my wireless card. The wireless card sits in the last pci slot of the board, so directly below the second crossfire card and directly above the psu fan. The internet works fine while browsing, but whenever I started a game (went to load and 3d clocks) the internet would drop. This wasn't immediately after the cf, but has been degrading over the past month and a half.

At this point I have disabled crossfire and removed the second card and was just able to play a rousing match of bfbc2, which had been continuously dropping me with the crossfire enabled.

Questions:
My diagnosis is the wireless card is overheating. Does this seem reasonable?
What can I do about the wireless card overheating?
Is there possibly permanent damage to the wireless card, and should it be replaced?
Could I possibly mod the wireless card to make it more heat resistant? Backplates, additional fans, etc.?
Are there any heat resistant wireless cards in production?
Would a new case help temperatures? Even in a different case the second 5770 card will exhaust on top of the wireless card so I'm not sure how big a difference side airflow would make.
What would you recommend I do?

Several notes:
Need to use wireless for internet, no option to plug into the router currently.
Plan on upgrading motherboard but not for a few months. Want either 1155 or AM3+, waiting for release and benches. Maybe a larger form factor board in a bigger case is the way to go then.
Would really like crossfire working with the internet. CF 5770s put a beat down on the single 5770.
This worked fine at first, played many hours of bfbc2 online with the crossfire. The past couple weeks the internet performance has started to degrade.
My current boards pcie bandwidth is maxed out with both graphics cards in crossfire. pcie wireless cards are therefore not an option on this current motherboard, but could be an option on my next motherboard (1155 or am3+).

Do you have a laptop with windows 7 on it? You could hook the laptop to the desktop and share the connection that way. I have been doing this every since windows 7 came out.

don't worry about connection speed or latency, it isn't an issue with me at all. I have used a few different laptops for this and it resulted in the same connection speed.

Do these offer comparable performance to pci wireless cards?

I did try a refurbed usb wireless from compusa, and it was so full of fail. Terrible drivers refused to recognize it after rebooting from the driver install.

Is there a good usb wireless that you could recommend?

Budget? And do you need Wireless N or Wireless g? You probaly got a lemon, some PCI Wireless cards suck too.

Plug the ethernet cable into the computer and the laptop. Then go to network connections and bridge the two connections by right clicking one of the network devices. (I think)

The bunk one was only 10 dollars. I'd be willing to spend more than that, within reason.

The bridging did work though. Currently posting this through the bridge. Haven't checked pings and latency to servers yet, that's the next step. Thanks for the advice.

My cousin has the one with the internal antenna and it works great. The external antenna should give you better range though. Plus it's cheap and has free shipping.
