Good build or could it be better?

Intel 2500k, p8p67 (idk which version), hd 6950(unclock to 6970) OR 6870, haf 932 case, SILVERSTONE Strider Essential series 700W, hyper 212+, Spinpoint F3 500gb, g. skill 2x2gb ddr3 1333(not 1 of the fancy 1s), ASUS ML228H monitor

I think it's good for gaming, but my budget was 1200$ with shipping and taxes and it passed that. How can I make it cheaper w/o making it unusable for games in coming years? My original plan was with Phenom II X2 555BE (unlock to X4), ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3, and hd 6850

I'm planning on overlocking for sure and probably crossfiring.

Don't even be worried if it will be outdated by then. Even 775 is still going strong. You still have other expenses you are leaving out. Extra cooling? OS? Optical drive?

I would go with a different PSU and 8gb of ram. Bigger hard drive if you want storage space. but other then that it looks good. The case could be a cheaper case, but you won't be disapointed if you want to put the extra cash into that case, it is a nice one.

I would get this for the PSU instead.

*****! i just finished reading the 1st page of your post and then you post here XD do you think the psu is too high? on anandtech forums they where telling 300-520W?!?!?

He doesn't need 8GB of RAM. Also, could you tell us the total of what you listed? You said you plan on doing crossfire in the future, so the PSU is not overkill.

First, do not double post. Press the edit button next to the quote button and fit it in. Secondly, you said you are on a budget so I wouldn't really suggest a HAF X. Go with the HAF 932 like you said in the OP. How much was the total when you added all of this together? I know you said it passed $1200, but how much exactly? Try to list every item individually.

I would go with an NZXT case if you want to save some cash but still get a top notch quality case. The PSU can be lower wattage because you don't plan on going to big into high wattage parts. The corsair PSU's are very good. I have the 650 and could run dual cards no problem.

The reason I say go with 8gb is because it is becoming the normal for custom built computers.
The quality of the silverstone PSU is questionable, but the corsair PSU's are top notch.

the white phantom has free shipping right now.

or a guardian case if you want a smaller cheaper case.
