Looking for a receiver/amplifier thingy......

So I have two big high quality Philips speakers from back in the day that deliver quality audio. They use to be part of a home theater system but the original receiver died a long time ago. Currently I have them hotwired to a cheap jWIN subwoofer and the sound quality is just horrible. I am looking for something like a TV receiver except all it has to do is hook up to my computer and amplify the sound signal, nothing more. These speakers have the red and the black wires just so you know. They are rated at 6 OHM's if that helps.
However if no such thing exists to fit my needs (or budget), can someone recommend a cheap speaker system from a quality brand for around $50? A sub is not required however it is always a plus however I do prefer sound quality>Sound immersion if you know what I mean.

Any good amp will work as long as it has rca for devices like ipods and pcs (via 3.5 mm to rca) unless ur pc has optical out (even better)

there is so many amps that were talked about in this fourm

an example would be this

but im no expert but theres a ****load of as good/better amps then the above amp (i just cant think of any names at the minute)

(av receiver would do the same thing as long it has jacks for ur speakers)

You could find something like

used and get an RCA-->3.5mm cable. I found the Pioneer receiver listed in my system for extremely cheap on CL, but I could have done better as far as quality.

I think that you best bet would be to find one used, like on craigslist. Many old receivers are extremely well made and deliver quality sound, and you can find them for super cheap. Just google the brand/model before you buy it to make sure that its quality
