[EA] Crysis 2 PC Demo Released - Page 59

Well that's fine FuNk if you like it but not a lot of people like going up against someone who has a predetermined advantage. And yes it is predetermined just by the way it's set up. Someone here made mention that it's the same. NO it's NOT the same. Not in any way shape or form is it the same. Anyone that believes this either doesn't care, doesn't fit the definition of what a PC gamer is or only has a Console. I myself have been gaming since before Coleco stopped selling their consoles. And while I have no problem playing against a console gamer I expect it to be on even ground. Just like I won't play in most serers because there is always some little dingleberry running around using a cheat that puts the advantage in his favor. Mostly from the console crowd. Yes it happens with some PC guys/gals but for the most part the Console person feels they need an advantage to compete. This game gave em +1 to that effect far as I'm concerned.

I game with this system. It's not in the least bit weak. Heck if you look up the user stats on Steam, I'm well within the accepted norms. It would really peeve in my Wheaties if some little Console dork had this advantage and then proceeded to PWN the whole server with a couple more well timed advantages in his cheat code arsenal.

No, but it is something the consoles don't have. The demo was a complete port and should be an indication of how the game will turn out so I will not be buying it.

+1 I think.

The more I read on this the more I'm not satisfied. Never seen a demo that was strictly MP. So that should say a lot about their confidence in the storyline of the game. I buy games for the Storyline first and MP second. In fact I can't even justify spending $60 on a game that is primarily for MP. It's the one reason I never decided to pick up WoW. I would rather play a game that had the cheesiest graphics than one that had the LSD tripfest graphics if the cheezy game has a primium story to fall back on and the tripfest game's storyline was an afterthought.

Lower our expectations? No thanks. This is a sequel to the best looking game to come out on the pc (arguably)
They are catering to the console now and we have every right to ***** and complain about it.

Wha?!!! Srsly?!!!

I agree. It'd be like watching the last Batman 24/7 and then having WB come out with a new Batman with Brand in the title role. I like him as a comic actor but ... that would just be wrong.

I didn't say NOT to have expectations but to be realistic. Nothing in the 3 sentences you put up is anywhere close to reality.

Its give an take. Games cost money and they have a set budget. Few Devs go for the "grand slam" ( bleeding edge tech cobbled with a long, polished game with tons of great gameplay and a perfect multiplayer ) because it would probably cost $100 million to make and wouldn't be guaranteed to be a success. What if the storyline doesn't resonate? What if the new tech causes unexpected delays? What if there are issues in the gameplay mechanics? You'd essentially be betting the whole company on one title that may or may not resonate with buyers. Meanwhile Activision reskins a 2005 game, sells OLD maps and they make $1 BILLION per COD sequel.

Some might say, 'Gaming is art. Why wouldn't SOMEONE out there want to take a chance to make gaming history and put out a masterpiece?!'. I agree, but I also understand the business side. Making a game IS art but unlike most art, it's incredibly expensive. Every once in a while you'll see a brilliant, inventive game but for every 1 that comes out there's probably 10 that have been scrapped along the way b/c they tried something new and it wasn't panning out. So until we get a billionaire private owner of a good dev who bankrolls them to make the BEST damn game they can with cost not being an option, you'll just have to understand these companies need to make money to continue making the games you want.
The whole thing is almost like professional sports with a soft cap and responsible owners. Until that one guy comes along that cares more about winning (masterpiece) than money and has the spare money to match, you just have to accept that as feverish as the fanbase's demands and wants are, the money has to match up.

So again, back to reality, you need a little give and take. Lower your insane graphics demands, raise your gameplay demands....OR get Mark Cuban to buy out EA.
Who cares what they have to do behind the scenes. Are you their CFO or something? At the end of the day, they are selling an "experience." Not providing the full PC experience (DX11) at launch and asking $60 is ridiculous. You can list all of those hypothetical financial numbers all you want, it doesn't reinforce your argument. The consumer can careless how it's developed, we only want to know is the game we are buying is the full experience, which Crysis 2 without DX11, high res textures, and refined PC controls is not. These game companies have successfully lowered your expectations.

Let's all hope Crysis 2 lives up to the hype Crytek themselves created or we'll be in for a long wait for BF3.
