When you say it that way, it's fine. It doesn't help the PC game industry when people choose one over the other. Devs already are choosing consoles over PCs, no need to give them the impression to work even less to develop a game by delivering DX9 over and over. DX9 by Crytek is awesome, but it's time for a new PC benchmark.

The gameplay should be awesome. The demo started to grow on me, but the annoying sound of everyone using the scar is spoiling the game a little, more guns will be welcomed in the full game.

I'm upset that all the features may or may not be included at launch due to them "multitasking".

Gaming is a BUSINESS. They have to pick one over the other ( or a mix ) because the cost of programming is astronomical. If you wanted a game that delivered it ALL, you'd probably run into the $150 million range and you'd have no real idea how that game might do. It's easy to scream and yell to others that they should gamble with their own money but its hard to do when it's your butt in the hot seat.

And you're fixated on Dx9 too much. Dx9 is just fine. Take Crysis 1 for example. Eventually games will start to look like the Dx11 demos but don't expect it to happen overnight, given everything that's going on in the world right now. But looking at crysis 2 right now, it being on Dx9 is just fine by me. It has 1st rate graphics. It looks better than the first Crysis, especially the MP, and the only game that I've seen with better is Metro 2033....and this is only the MP.

If a game never came with a benchmark again I could care less. I buy a game to play it, not to test hardware. That's what the pro sites like anandtech.com are for.

Use the sniper rifle or the machine gun. If you're real good with your power usage timing, the machine gun is actually BETTER than the SMG. SMG takes 3-7 hits to kill, the machine gun takes 2-4. The sniper rifle is at a disadvantage until they up the recoil, but if you're good and sneaky, you can make it fun with the rifle + pistol for short distances. The shotty just blows chunks right now. 3-6 shots to kill someone and it's completely useless beyond 10ft.

I know its not easy being in the hot seat... but i agree with NitrousX when he said its more about the gameplay. and it cant be that difficult to factor in all the things that make a game become an actually fun experience.. . i bet the hard part is balancing in the gameplay with the visuals.. every time they come out with a new graphics engine it seems to dwarf old ones..
might i add that i was getting less fps on crysis 1 than on this crysis 2. for some reason i dont care why because its a fun game to play.. for me i just wish they would change two simple things: i want to be able to choose between toggle crouch and hold crouch button. and then i want an option to not have to watch a kill replay... or at least they could show your killer's health as they kill you... hehehe that kinda bugged me... but the ping count never bothered me and the press start thing never bothered me... because fallout 3 did it too and i didnt mind. i think button finding drivers that automatically offer corresponding button options work just fine.. hehehe... i like to hold my crouch button... and also .. while im at it.. the only thing that really killed if on crysis 1 for me was the fact that you CANT MAP YOUR CONTROLLER ... wth?!! ... oh how i love mapping my own controller....

My point well said. One thing is for sure though, It just seems like everybody in today's world is more concerned with the graphics rather than the actual gameplay. Gameplay always trumps graphics. It is just sad to see that people are canceling their Crysis 2 preorders just because the graphics are not mind boggling.

that, sir, is triple buffering
it used to happen on my system too all the time until i get D3DOverider to force triple buffering on.

completely agree with you. heck they think the demo is everything. no! the demo only includes DX9. DX11 will come in the final game. by that time, graphics WILL be mind boggling
let's hope my GPU don't get pwned by DX11 crysis 2
