Crysis was never had amazing gameplay so people are not expecting it to.
Each game has it purpose, and Crysis purpose was producing amazing visuals.

So turning the tables and wanting the opposite(gameplay over graphics) instead of wanting "both" is weird.

I'm happy for all the guys who are getting high frame rates, but there are those of us that want to see our hardware pushed to the limit with quality visuals. Why are we buying $500 video cards, SLI/CF, Eyefinity, 4.0GHz+ OC, 30" monitors etc. just to play a game that will run prefectly fine on a 9800GTX and LGA 775 CPUs with a 1680x1050 monitor. PC gamers must be a bunch of suckers for buying all of this new hardware since gameplay is more important than graphics. The more I see people and devs content with todays standards, the more I want to sell my PC and take a vacation with the money.

I don't know why people are cancelling their orders but they need to realized the demo is not a finished product and it's just a port demo. Was told the final release will have PC features and etc. I am glad i didn't cancel. Don't judge a trailer until you seen it.

Sadly MP demos don't tell the tale of the overall product. The fact that there is no single play included with this Demo speaks volumes imho. I could be wrong but EA didn't do this thing any justice by limiting the access to MP. But they've learned that the sheep will willingly gobble it up.

When people say Crysis 1 wasn't fun or didn't have good gameplay, I don't think they really played it. For a whole year after Crysis came out I was buying that same BS and then I bought it on a steam sale. The game is FUN, offers plenty of variety and is as stealth or as action packed as you want it to be.

What about the gameplay of Crysis 1 wasn't fun or balanced to you? What about it made it a tech demo to you?

While I'd love Dx11, since i have a 5850, I realize that I'm 7% of the entire gaming community who can, so I understand when a dev passes on it.

I dunno, why ARE you?! Right now is a great time for PC gaming in the sense that you've NEVER had a time where your GPU purchases stretched longer. But you're a 'glass is half empty' kinda guy i guess.

Actually a lot of you are suckers. How many ppl buy +$600 setups just for some stupid bench program?

Here's the thing. I'm 29. I've been through the vast majority of gaming platforms. I've been PC gaming since before Doom. The cool thing about PC gaming has always been that the gameplay was different than anything else. Sometimes the graphics were better, sometimes worse, but the imaginative games were what it was about.

Fast forward and like 40% of the PC gaming population is more concerned about looking better than console and justifying their $600 GPU than they are about the length and quality of the game. AND even when a quality game that has it all comes out, they don't buy enough of it anyways.

It's like you guys with the overly powerful systems want the rest of us to suffer b/c we don't feel like subsidizing the entire gaming industry's tech advances. It's like getting mad at the cop b/c your engine came with more HP than it requires to go 70 mph. Don't be mad at him, be mad at yourself for not showing restraint.

I actually agreed with a lot of what you said. I myself ALMOST fell into that trap of gotta get the best thing available. Even had the 5970 in my cart ready for purchase with my system. But then I took a look at what I was getting in my cart and the dollar to product ratio was tilted in favor of Newegg. Something like 10 items and no PSU. Yeah that woulda been painful cause I have a 500w OCZ unit that I woulda been stuck with only to find that it wasn't anywhere near acceptable. So I dumped the $700 5970 and went with the $160 5770. There are only a handful of games that I cannot run maxxed out. Crysis is one of them. But that's okay cause if I feel that twitch to get the best when I can better afford to, I have a good enough system to run it.

But c'mon man comparing a speeding ticket to gaming systems and suggesting lack of restraint is a bit on the ridiculous side. I've seen the most careful driver picked off in a speed trap and it's not cause they normally have a lead foot. In fact I got nailed in Vancouver heading east I was doing 5 over trying to get around traffic that would not let me into the lane. It's illegal to drive in the left hand lane in my area and people kept speeding up to fill the gaps. Evil Kanievel tagged me at 5 over. But when he pulled me over I was in a 60 spot which put me 10 over. He even told me that he was only gonna cite me for 5 over. Which put me still in hot water. What a douche I hope his drive wheel got a flat later that day. He knew he could get me at that spot cause he was on the Ramp of the OP as I was passing it. And like any good Stater, knows the distances of coming to a complete stop.

Just thought I would share the incident to point out the lack of real world application.

Even still, I woulda got the 5970 if I'da had the cash to buy it and complete my system at the same time. Sleeving an all.

Ugh, that's like my #1 pet peeve about OCN. People who argue semantics and nitpick analogies, which breaks down into a 5 page debate about which analogy is best. Its an analogy, which means it was never meant to be an exact copy. It shares certain similarities and it's a perfectly fine one. There's no need for my analogy to cover speed traps, DMV lines, drivers tests, price of gas, price of repairs, replacement tires, oil changes, DUIs, Street Racing or any other inane sub-topic related to cars.

The point is people are buying more than what they need out of impulse, then getting mad that they can't use all the extra power.

At the heart of the vocal minority of PC gamers' desire to whine their way to bleeding edge graphics for every single PC game ever released, ever.....is their need to justify their purchase. That's why we have all these PC gamers talking worse than Console fanboys now. That's why we have PC gamers who root for Nvidia or AMD like they're sports teams.

True and that was all that needed to be said. I'm glad to see that my little push got you in the right direction.

Only reason I root against NVidia to be brutally honest is how they basically took over the market. By getting the Developers to write code specifically for their cards. Which is fine on the surface of it but you just know there was some backroom dealing going on. I'm glad the pendulum is swinging the other way finally now that AMD has gotten into the Graffix game.
