Full blown nerd mode simulated study temp.

Thread Starter
So today because I am bored and work doesn't start for me for like another month (hopefully) I purposly raised the temp in the room my PC sits in to what the normal summer ambient temps are in the room to test my OC.

I am currently @ 4.2ghz HT on and cant go any lower on my Vcore without lossing stability into about hour 9 on prime. I use a Corsair H70 for cooling.

So anyway Full load my temps with "summer room temp" are peaking @ 80-81C on full load cores 1&2 during prime blend. Is it time for me to look into a good water cooling loop? Or would it be safe to run these kind of temps all the time?

If I did run these kind of temps all the time from what I have read via google and OCN it looks like the consquence would be my CPU burning out in 2 ish years? I mean I know you cant really put a time stamp for sure on something like this but that would be a good guess no? Or again should I just start saving to invest into a better rad and loop? Thanks again guys =)

Depending on your budget, the D-14 and Silver arrow are the best air coolers, they cool better than your h70. If the budget allows, buy a water cooling kit like the rasa360 or make your own loop.

BUT, in my honest opinion your temps are fine because, if you are loading at 81c, temps will rarely get over 70 during everyday use which is a safe temp. IMO stress test in winter, open a window and don't break the bank for better cooling

I load at 77c, been running 24/7 at 5 ghz for almost 2 months now. After about 12 days of use, my max temp was 62c.

ahaha thanks for the speedy response. I will have a loop sooner or later here. Actually just got my second gtx 570 and the day that I bought it my 4wd module went out on my transfer case =(. So the card had to go back and water cooling has to wait again...

If only I could find a way to drive my computer to work when it starts I am so on board.
