First build ever! Need help! - Page 2

Ok guys. I've updated my build list. Here's link to a picture with the items: http://img834.imageshack.us/i/58002771.png/

For HDD and optical drive I'm going to be using the ones I have from the current computer.

So if I include shipping and taxes, the price comes out to right around $1000. This is right at the maximum border line for my budget. I would like to reduce it. From the way I see it, the areas that allow for allowable reduction is to get a cheaper case, get rid of the SSD, and get a cheaper video card. However, I don't want to sacrifice the looks of my case for a cheaper price so I would have to look for a good case for a good deal. As for the SSD, I can do without it, as I can probably added in later when I have more room with the budget. For the video card, the GTX 460 is at a discount at 154.99. I think this is a good deal. So I'm not sure if I should reduce the cost for video cards or not. If I reduce the case cost to around 60 and get rid of the SSD, that will save me around 150 bucks and bring my cost down to around 850 which is more tolerable.

Few questions as well. Is the 600W BS corsair gonna be enough? Also, the P67A-GD53 MOBO is one of the lower end ones. Is it going to allow good OCing?

Also, I didn't include the cooling, will I really need it?

I think your motherboard is a bit over the top,
considering the CPU you are getting, the Mobo is more than what you need.
A small form or H67 would be a better pick, unless you are looking for upgrades later on

sorry didnt see the updated CPU,
sounds just about right to me

The price on that Corsair CX600 is a total joke. Get an XFX 650W XXX Edition. The gray version is ~$75 shipped on Newegg. Or get a Corsair TX650V2. Note the V2, it's important -- don't get the old regular TX650.

I've switched it to antec trupower 650W. Also, are the RAMs I mentioned going to work with the system?"

If you dont OC I dont think you will need any other cooler than stock cooling, and if you want to cut down on the prize I'd say drop the SSD, if you can spare some seconds here and there

Are you in the Canada? If you are, and are looking to save money on the PSU, NCIX has the Antec Truepower 650w for $95, which is a solid PSU btw.

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=36263&...ufacture=Antec

Whoops, didn't see that you already found the Truepower for cheap. And as for your RAM, it'll be fine. Also, what games are you going to be playing? A 5770 will be fine for most games as long as your not a hard-core enthusiast so you can save some cash there.

Don't bother on upgrading the stock CPU cooling unless you plan on doing some major OC'ing, otherwise you can still get pretty good results with the stock cooler.

Last thing, and its more of a personal preference, but I personally enjoy working with quality cases and can't deal with crappy cases. As a bonus cases tend to last through builds/upgrades so investing in ones is always a good call!

Hey thanks for the comments. I'm looking to play some modern games like SC2, L4D2, total war shogun 2 that's coming out soon, Dead Space 2 etc.
Will single 5770 be enough? I'll XF with another 5770 later. As for OC, I would like to do some but if the stock cooler is not up to the task, I'll get one later when I think I need it.
What about this storm scout case? I've been looking at many really..but trying to save money here like antec 300, or Lian Li K62. Is SC a cheap case?

Consider getting a GTX460 1GB..it won't break your budget and it will be perfect. I've heard many good things about the Storm Scout.. but the best of the ones you listed would be the K62.

I looked at your CM 690 II adv. It's pretty good case. How is it?
Also, I looked and most GTX 460s cost around 200. 5770s I can find in 120s. I am considering spending more on gpu though so I'm in a dilemma lol.
