If you're consuming 724W at the wall (AC power) then with a 80% efficient PSU your PC would be consuming 579.2W DC.

i'll get them to give me a 400w-450w PSU and I guess I'll just jump start it
so i'll end up with 2x PSU's....I'm using a custom case so I guess that should solve my problem no?
Since the rig would take below 500W @ stock you'd have 150W+ of headroom with a 650W PSU. Maybe the second PSU isn't even needed. Then again, it depends on the clock speeds you target. If you don't need to heavily overvolt the graphics cards you may get away with it

and 750+core on GPU's....hmmm
well but i'll be running them full load; F@H...hmmm

It doesn't matter if you have the GTX 470's or not. You just don't understand how efficiency works.

do you think I can call myself an enthusiast without knowing how efficiency works?

who would use a 600w PSU on a 580w+ PC. at least give it a bit of breathing room. I can't imagine myself sleeping peacefully at night when my sig rig is folding using a 600w PSU.

You would be surprised at how clueless some "enthusiasts" are when it comes to PSU's.

Your sig rig probably pulls about 600-620w as it's slightly higher than 80% efficient... however there would be nothing wrong in running a 600w PSU at 580w output 24/7. Having "breathing space" is just a poor excuse. The components that would be used inside a good 600w would be rated to do 600w 24/7, no less.

Over 80% useage is fine, over 80% use for 24/7 at that draw is less fine. If you intend running your PSU at near full draw for long periods then I personally recommend you keep below 80% of maximum output just for longevity of the PSU.

^ but according to gameboy you can run it 24/7 even the PSU is almost at 100% maximum output
