Hi, does the GA-MA785GT-UD3H have a Turbo mode that would allow the 1055T to do it's turbo thing?

Actually, I think my question should be, can I disable Turbo?

Do I need to disable it for overclocking?

If I overclock all 6 cores to 3.6ghz will it still automatically cut down to 3 cores at times?

Can I use AMD Overdrive to control Turbo/disable Turbo?

Turbo with old 790/785/etc. boards is often very finicky
Disable it
Don't overclock the x6 on that board either, very cheap 3-transistor design 4+1 VRM + tower cooling + no MOSFET cooling = very bad idea

I got myself some mosfet coolers and won't be pushing the overclock much at all. I will be using the 95w 1055t.

95W 1055T? That's actually pretty good, and with the MOSFET cooling I'd say this would be a safe practice OC'ed 95W TDP 1055T would consume as much as OC'ed 125W 1055T because it usually requires same voltages to reach 4Ghz, but moderate overclocks would be a lot cooler both CPU and mobo-wise.

luches: This forum worries me honestly... the latest VRM failure here happened to someone who I had warned before. VRM failures seem to be popping up here day-to-day now, it's been what, 5 in a row so far?

Thanks for confirming what I was thinking.

I wouldn't be going for 4ghz, I am thinking 3.6ghz but until I try it that's just a guess.

I have the latest bios and there is no turbo mode in there, just ACC.

I hope AMD Over-drive will do it.
